Observation of Human Rights Day 2016 and Human Rights Education Training for the Community Youth Volunteers

Every year Human Rights Day comes to us with a new and specific theme. This year, Human Rights Day calls on everyone to Stand Up for Someone’s Rights! This year, Gram Bangla Unnayan Committee observed the day by conducting Rally,

human chain, discussion meetingson human rights issues, human rights education training program for the youth community volunteers, and a special event on `Human Rights Dignity Torch’ in the organization’s working areas in Matuail, Dhaka, and Nalchity of Jhalokathi district.

In Matuail, around 350 people including women and children of Waste Picker’s community participated in the rally. The rally started from Grambangla School and ended at the same place after moving through different roads and lanes of the community holding various placards and festoons demanding their basic rights and establishing dignity at the workplace and community.

To celebrate human rights day in Nalchityupazila of Jhalokathi district, more than 150 people including government officials, local government representatives, NGOs, students, and youth volunteers participated in the human rights rally, discussion meetings, training program for the youth community volunteers, and a special event on `Human Rights Dignity Torch’. UpazilaNirbahi Officer (government’s Chief Executive Officer at sub-district level) and Hon’ble Mayor of Nalchityupazila participated in the event.
